Steve Byrne

Stephen J Byrne, CPA, is a partner with Mauldin & Jenkins, LLC. Steve received his BBA from Auburn University in 1977 and currently works and resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since 1979, Steve enjoys working closely with owners and managers of privately-owned companies, including professional practice groups. He coordinates all tax, audit and accounting services for his clients.   He has significant experience in service focused business and professional practices.  And he has worked significantly with mid-sized manufacturers and contractors, distributors and real estate investment companies.  Many of his clients have been family operated.  He has also developed specialized knowledge and experience in multi-state income taxation.

In addition to serving his entreprenurial clients, Steve is responsible for auditing several 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPS).  Also, through his lengthy experience with private companies, he has assisted many clients through ownership transition as both aquiror and seller.

Upon developing an understanding of the Company’s operation and its culture, he routinely assists clients in a wide variety of planning and consulting issues related to both the business and its impact on the owner’s goals and objectives. Steve is very active as a sounding board and facilitator for business planning issues and entity formation and has had two clients win the “Georgia Family Business of the Year” presented by Kennesaw State University: Cox Family Enterprise Center.

He serves and has served on numerous charitable and civic boards in a variety of capacities.  He also currently serves on Auburn University’s Advisory Council to the School of Accounting. Steve has been very active in leadership development recently served as Co-Chair of the Leadership Cobb – Class of 2013. He also enjoys playing tennis on ALTA and USTA teams.
