Mauldin & Jenkins Birmingham Office Volunteers for United Way of Central Alabama’s Hands on Birmingham

Birmingham, AL Last month, employees in the Mauldin & Jenkins Birmingham office volunteered through United Way of Central Alabama’s Hands on Birmingham program, and held a community service day to help Bryan Elementary School prepare for its first day of classes.

“UWCA assists schools in the area with landscaping cleanup and other projects to get ready for back to school,” said Kristen Studdard, a Director in the Firm’s Birmingham office. “The system only has about 20 maintenance technicians who support almost 60 schools with all indoor and outdoor maintenance, so needs above general grounds maintenance fall to volunteers. It was nice to get outside and help spruce up Bryan Elementary for the first day of school.”

Employees helped treat the parking lot for weeds, cleaned up the school’s sign, pressure washed the walkway in front of the school, and cleared a nature trail that the school uses as an outdoor classroom. The school currently has 838 students enrolled in the Morris, AL, area.

Staying true to Mauldin & Jenkins core values, M&J works to promote social welfare and support nonprofit organizations that are making a difference in the communities we serve and the ones we call home.
