Fred earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accountancy from Auburn University. Upon graduation, Fred joined Coopers and Lybrand national accounting firm. Fred returned to his hometown of Athens, AL in 1975 to work with Christopher and Durham Accountants, specializing in tax preparation and auditing services. Through the years, the firm has expanded and become known as CDPA PC, providing tax, auditing, and business consulting to individuals and businesses in Athens and the surrounding areas. Before joining Mauldin & Jenkins, Fred led the healthcare practice for CDPA. Fred has more than 40 years of experience in tax preparation, personal and business planning, compilation engagements, estate planning, and small business advising and succession planning. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants. He received the 2004 Alabama Business Ethics Award from the Society of Financial Service Professionals in recognition of his high standards in providing quality service to his clients. In addition to Fred’s commitment to professional excellence, he is committed to his community. His involvement includes past president of Athens Rotary Club, past president of the Limestone Area Foundation, past board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Athens, and past member of the Board of Directors for Compass Bank and First American Bank. He currently serves as chairman of the Finance Committee of First United Methodist Church. Fred and his wife Becky are blessed to have their two daughters, sons-in-law, and three wonderful grandchildren living in Athens. They enjoy attending all of their grandchildren’s school events, as well as their soccer and baseball games as their number one fans. They are proud their daughters chose to raise their families in Athens, a community that continues to grow and thrive, but still maintains small-town values.
