Thank you to everyone who attended our Internal Control Over Disbursements seminar on Monday, February 25. The entire day was spent discussing internal controls and proper segregation of duties in regard to disbursements. This included both traditional accounts payable disbursements as well as payroll. We discussed the importance of segregation of duties, as well as fraud risks associated with all disbursements. We were joined by representatives of East-West Bank who specialize in serving local governments. They discussed recent trends seen in fraud and services that may be offered by financial institutions to assist with strengthening internal controls and mitigating fraud risks.
