Birmingham Accounting Firm Makes a Difference at Local Food Bank

BIRMINGHAM, August 20, 2024 – This summer, employees from Mauldin & Jenkins’ Birmingham office joined forces with the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama to tackle food insecurity in the community. 

A dedicated team of Mauldin & Jenkins volunteers sorted canned goods to streamline pantry operations and packed boxes filled with essential items for distribution to the local community. 

Food insecurity affects a significant portion of the population, highlighting the need for increased support and resources to help those facing hunger. The Community Food Bank of Central Alabama plays a vital role in addressing this challenge. As a key distribution center, it provides food services to residents across 12 counties in Central Alabama. 

During a two-hour shift, our Birmingham team packed 260 food distribution boxes, which is equivalent to three pallets, or 5,200 pounds of food; these boxes will provide 260 families with meals for a week,” shared Birmingham Director Kristin Studdard. 

“This project was done in conjunction with our annual fundraising drive for United Way of Central Alabama, and the Community Food Bank is one of many community agencies partially supported by United Way donations. Employees in the Birmingham office have collectively committed to giving over $14,400 to UWCA in 2025.”
