Earth Day Insights: Championing Sustainability with Practical Pointers

In recognition of Earth Day, Mauldin & Jenkins proudly highlights its commitment to sustainability and offers practical suggestions for incorporating sustainable practices into your day-to-day life.

Within the last few years, Mauldin & Jenkins has significantly reduced its environmental footprint by encouraging remote work, thereby decreasing daily commutes. The Firm has further supported this initiative by providing assistance to professionals to enhance their home office setups, promoting sustained remote engagement. Additionally, the utilization of video conferencing enables staff to collaborate virtually, decreasing the need for business travel, which reduces the Firm’s carbon footprint.

Since 2005, M&J has diligently worked to transition to a paperless environment. Integrating digital technology solutions has allowed us to maintain high-quality service delivery while minimizing paper use in communications with our clients.

Going forward, Mauldin & Jenkins will continue to leverage resources to diminish our environmental impact. We are committed to the ongoing development and implementation of sustainable practices both within and beyond our offices. Below are a few ideas to help with sustainability efforts in the workplace.

  1. Bring Your Own
    1. Plastic water bottles and other single-use plastic utensils end up in landfills every day. Consider bringing your own mug, cup, plate, and utensils to use at work for your convenience.
  2. Carpool with Coworkers
    1. The person down the hall from you might be your neighbor. Consider reducing the amount of cars on the road (and the traffic) by carpooling with a coworker.
  3. Donate Workwear & Shop Secondhand
    1. 85% of clothing purchased from fast fashion retailers ends up in landfills. Consider shopping secondhand, renting, or shopping slow fashion brands.
    2. Ready to clean out your closet? Shelters and recovery centers will take donations of professional clothing for people in need.
