Mauldin & Jenkins Lends a Helping Hand at OneGenAway’s Mobile Food Pantry

HUNTSVILLE- Demonstrating a strong commitment to community service, employees from the Huntsville and Athens, AL, offices of Mauldin & Jenkins, a Top 100 assurance, tax, and advisory firm, participated in OneGenAway’s Mobile Food Pantry event held at Discovery Middle School. The initiative aimed to support those facing food insecurity in the local community.

Employees took part in various activities, including food distribution, engaging with community members, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the event. Their efforts significantly contributed to the success of the pantry, providing much-needed assistance to individuals and families in need.

Office Manager Salli Perkins thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with OneGenAway. “It’s been a great way to get involved in the community, have fun, and meet new people,” Salli shared. “Each time I attend an event, I am reminded of how many people in our community need assistance, whether it be a temporary situation or a long-term struggle. This program provides an opportunity for a variety of individuals and groups to come together for a good cause.” 

Food insecurity remains a persistent issue for many individuals and families in North Alabama. By participating in this event, employees helped to address this critical need, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.

One Generation Away is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been feeding bellies and souls since 2013. Founded by Chris and Elaine Whitney, OneGenAway rescues high-quality, surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and caterers and redistributes that food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
