Mauldin & Jenkins Supports Community and Global Mobility Needs Through Church Drives

MARCH 2024- This March, professionals from Mauldin & Jenkins, a leading accounting and advisory firm, participated in the mobility drives of two local churches as part of the Firm’s ongoing commitment to giving back. These initiatives aim to address transportation needs within the community and provide life-changing mobility devices to children in Africa who require assistance walking.

The “Bike Ministry,” organized by First Methodist Church, is an ongoing initiative for the collection of used adult bicycles in good condition to be refurbished and distributed in the community. A church member repairs and “fits” the bikes to neighbors who have a crucial need for transportation.

The second drive, “Crutches for Africa,” is an initiative by Christ Church of Albany to collect used and surplus mobility devices such as canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, and orthopedic braces for distribution to children in Africa who live with disabilities that prevent them from walking.

Employees generously contributed to both drives by collecting and donating bikes, walkers, crutches, and canes. “It was a great opportunity for the office to help with the bike ministry and disability equipment collection for both First Methodist Church of Albany and Christ Church of Albany,” said Community Service Chair James Langston. “Each drive will benefit individuals in need, both locally and internationally, and we are thankful to both churches for allowing us the opportunity to contribute.”

Senior Associate Mary Jean Alford was excited to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. “As a firm, we are always looking for ways to extend our reach beyond the office walls and make a positive impact in our communities,” she shared. “It’s very rewarding to see everyone come together with enthusiasm to support such worthy causes.”

While the bike ministry is an ongoing drive, Christ Church of Albany is holding a one-time collection for the mobility items on March 9th at 505 Byron Plantation Rd, Albany, GA 31721, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Those wishing to drop off bikes throughout the year can do so at First Methodist Church, 307 Flint Avenue, Albany, GA 31701, or call 229-432-7407.
