Local Accounting Firm Mauldin & Jenkins Helps Fight Hunger in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE- Employees from the Huntsville and Athens, Alabama offices of Mauldin & Jenkins, a Top 100 assurance, tax and advisory firm, rolled up their sleeves to serve those facing food insecurity in the community and take part in One Generation Away’s mobile food pantry event, held at Calhoun Community College.

Employees wholeheartedly participated in the event, volunteering to assist with food distribution, interacting with community members, and providing essential support to facilitate a smooth and efficient operation.

“It was an amazing experience to see and feel the power of community, with both my M&J co-workers and with new acquaintances from other organizations,” shared Salli Perkins, an employee in the Firm’s Huntsville office.

Hunger is an ongoing challenge for many individuals and families in the Huntsville community. “There was enough food for 350 cars, and even that was not enough,” Perkins said. “There are an astonishing number of people in need in our local community, and I was thankful to be able to help. I am definitely looking forward to serving at the next mobile pantry.”

The event was held at Calhoun Community College this past July in partnership with One Generation Away, an organization dedicated to removing hunger in America. OneGenAway seeks to rescue high-quality foods from restaurants and grocery stores before they are thrown out, redistributing them to community members in need.

Beyond traditional accounting services, Mauldin & Jenkins is committed to making a lasting impact in the communities it serves and participates in a variety of community service projects across each of its 14 locations throughout the year. More than just a corporate social responsibility, community service is a core value deeply embedded in the Firm’s culture, and the Firm actively encourages and supports its employees to get involved in charitable causes that resonate with them personally.
